Margaree Forks

Salmon-fishing capital of Cape Breton, where the Margaree River meets the Cabot Trail.

On the Cabot TrailOn the Ceilidh Trail

Margaree Forks sits where the Northeast and Southwest Margaree rivers join — the inland end of the Margaree River, one of the great Atlantic salmon rivers of eastern Canada. The Margaree Salmon Museum is small but lovingly assembled and worth half an hour.

The Cabot Trail crosses the river here, and the Cabot Trail / Ceilidh Trail junction at Margaree Harbour is a few kilometres further north — a useful waypoint when planning a route.
