Englishtown

Cable-ferry crossing on the Cabot Trail and the resting place of Cape Breton Giant Angus MacAskill.

On the Cabot Trail

Englishtown is best known for its 24-hour cable ferry, a two-minute crossing of St. Ann's Bay that saves Cabot Trail travellers a long drive around. The village is also the resting place of Angus MacAskill (1825–1863), a 7-foot-9 strongman known as the Cape Breton Giant; the small museum in his honour is on the main road.

The Englishtown Mussel Festival is a longstanding August tradition.
