Whycocomagh
Whycocomagh sits at the western end of the Bras d'Or Lake where the Trans-Canada Highway threads between water and mountain. It's one of those places everyone passes through and few people stop — but Salt Mountain (a short, steep climb directly behind the village) has one of the best Bras d'Or panoramas on the island, and the Whycocomagh First Nation runs cultural events through the summer.
A natural fuel-and-snack stop on a Cabot Trail loop or a drive between Inverness and Sydney.
