Largest Mi'kmaw community in the world — Goat Island cultural journey on the Bras d'Or.

On the Bras d'Or Lakes Scenic Drive

Eskasoni is the largest Mi'kmaw community in the world — about 4,400 people on the western shore of the Bras d'Or Lake. Eskasoni Cultural Journeys on Goat Island is one of the best Indigenous-led cultural experiences on the island: a self-guided walking trail with Mi'kmaw guides demonstrating quill-work, eel-spearing, and traditional cooking.

The Bras d'Or itself is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and the lake-fronts here have been continuously inhabited for thousands of years.
