Glace Bay

Coal-mining town on the Atlantic — Cape Breton Miners' Museum and the Marconi National Historic Site.

On the Marconi Trail

Glace Bay is the historical heart of Cape Breton's coal industry, and the Cape Breton Miners' Museum here remains one of the best industrial-history museums in Atlantic Canada — a guided tour of the underground "Ocean Deeps" colliery is the highlight.

The town is also home to the Marconi National Historic Site, where Guglielmo Marconi sent the first official wireless message between North America and Europe in 1902. Savoy Theatre on Commercial Street still hosts year-round live music.
