Sydney Mines

Coal-mining heritage town across the harbour from North Sydney, on the Marconi Trail.

On the Marconi Trail

Sydney Mines is one of the four communities on the north side of Sydney Harbour. Coal mining shaped the town — the Cape Breton Miners' Museum in nearby Glace Bay tells the broader story, but the streetscape and house lots here are a direct legacy of the colliery era.

The Bell Bay golf course is just south of town, and the Marconi Trail follows the coast east to Glace Bay and beyond.
