North Sydney

Marine Atlantic ferry terminal to Newfoundland — many visitors' first or last sight of Cape Breton.

On the Marconi Trail

North Sydney is, for many travellers, the first foot they set on Cape Breton — the Marine Atlantic ferry terminal to Port aux Basques and Argentia, Newfoundland, sits on the harbour. Sailings run year-round.

Beyond the terminal, North Sydney is a working harbour town with a few good seafood spots and quick access to the Cabot Trail (about 90 minutes north on the Trans-Canada).
