Two Rivers Wildlife Park

Family wildlife park near Marion Bridge with native Nova Scotia species and walking trails.

Two Rivers Wildlife Park houses non-releasable native species—black bears, moose, lynx, foxes, and birds of prey—in large enclosures along a walking loop on the Mira River. The park also offers picnic areas, a playground, kayak rentals, and seasonal events. It is a popular rainy-day or family outing from Sydney.

Highlights

  • Large enclosures for black bears, moose, lynx, red and arctic foxes, and resident birds of prey — all non-releasable rescues.
  • An interpretive walking loop that brings you within metres of species rarely seen in the wild.
  • A petting-farm area with goats, sheep, and rabbits — popular with younger kids.
  • Mira River frontage with picnic tables and a kayak/canoe rental in season.
  • Seasonal events including Christmas-light walks in December.

Plan your visit

  • Allow two to three hours; longer with young kids or kayak time.
  • Open seasonally, generally May through October, plus winter holiday events.
  • Modest admission; reduced rates for kids and families.
  • Wheelchair-accessible main loop, though some side paths are gravel.
  • Bug spray helps in the wooded sections.

Combine it with

  • A Mira River paddle or a swim at Mira River Provincial Park nearby.
  • The Marconi National Historic Site in Glace Bay.
  • A drive to Louisbourg for an afternoon at the fortress.
