
Mira River Provincial Park
A 156-site provincial campground on the wide, slow Mira River — the longest river in Cape Breton — celebrated in Allister MacGillivray's "Song for the Mira."
Sites & amenities
51 open sites (44 with water and electrical), 40 partially wooded (15 with water and electrical), 65 wooded sites, plus group sites and shoreline sites for paddlers. Flush toilets, showers, dish-washing, laundry, playground, fire grills, dump station, boat launch and Wi-Fi at the office.
Best for
Families, paddlers and RVers using Sydney as a base. Easy access to ferry traffic and CBRM amenities.
Park & access
Reservations via parks.novascotia.ca. 2026 season May 29 – October 19. Leashed pets welcome.
Combine it with
Fortress of Louisbourg (35 min), Sydney waterfront, Glace Bay Miners' Museum and a Mira River paddle.
