
MacDonald House Museum
The MacDonald House Museum is a 19th century, gothic-style furnished farmhouse overlooking Lake Ainslie on Cape Breton Island. The museum’s exhibit room features crafts, a housing loom and spinning wheel, while the barn displays an assortment of farm machinery and tools. The barn also provides a spectacular setting for concerts held throughout the summer months. Visitors to the museum can also explore a restored one-room schoolhouse (c 1920) to learn what education used to be like in rural Cape Breton Contact the museum for more information about group tours and special demonstrations. There is parking available on site for the Trans Canada Trail & access trail.
