📍 Suggested itinerary

Start the week on a high note Monday evening at Lloyd Spiegel Live at Marble Mountain Estates. The Australian blues guitarist brings his distinctive style to Marble Mountain on September 28 at 7:00 p.m. — a rare calibre of live performance for a Monday night in Cape Breton, and not one to miss. Guests staying at Dundee Resort & Golf Club in nearby West Bay are well positioned to make an evening of it, with lakeside accommodations and on-site recreation to round out the day.

Tuesday morning, the Heritage Craft group convenes at 9:00 a.m. in Orangedale, offering a chance to sit alongside local artisans and explore traditional rug hooking — a textile craft with deep roots in Nova Scotia. It's a welcoming, unhurried way to spend a weekday morning, and visitors are encouraged to drop in and learn.

For those settling in for a longer stay, Battery Provincial Park Campground in Saint Peter's provides a scenic base with 53 sites, hiking trails, and a saltwater beach overlooking St. Peter's Bay. Alternatively, Bras d'Or Lakes Inn, a Canada Select 4.5-star inn also in Saint Peter's, offers comfortable rooms and locally sourced dining within easy reach of the week's events.

Thursday brings Regular Thursday Night Cardplay to Highway 320 at 7:30 p.m. — a community staple with two jackpot chances and prize payouts that scale with player turnout. It's the kind of authentic local gathering that reminds visitors there's more to Cape Breton than scenery. Before heading out, dinner at Miller's Seafood & Chophouse in Port Hawkesbury is a natural choice — fresh local seafood, steaks, and a casual elegance that suits a weeknight out.

The weekend opens Friday at the Happy Hour at the Creig Pub and Patio in Creignish, where live local music fills the room from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon, the Saturday Sessions at the Seal Cove Restaurant & Lounge pairs live music with seafood specials from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. — an ideal early-evening plan before a quiet night in. Visitors looking for a comfortable home base near Port Hawkesbury can also consider Papa's Pub and Eatery for a satisfying meal, with Canadian cuisine, craft pizzas, and an extensive wine list in a warm setting.
