Tuesday Island Tunes at St. John's Centre for the Arts

Tuesday, August 25 · 3:30 p.m.

Tuesday Island Tunes at St. John's Centre for the Arts

Tuesday Island Tunes is a weekly summer music series held at St. John's Centre for the Arts in Arichat, on Isle Madame in Richmond County. The series runs on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM at the St. John's Centre for the Arts in Arichat. Admission is by donation at the door, and refreshments are served. The series is a weekly music showcase at St. John's Centre for the Arts featuring local performers. The format suits a broad audience — visitors exploring Isle Madame and the Strait area, summer residents, and locals alike. The intimate setting and accessible admission make it a low-barrier community gathering as much as a performance event. St. John's Centre for the Arts is located in the heart of historic Arichat and was constructed in 1895, designed by renowned architect William Critchlow Harris. The building is noted for its excellent acoustics, beautiful woodwork, and views of the Atlantic Ocean. Originally an Anglican church, it is now owned and operated by the Friends of St. John's Arichat Society, who preserve the building for its heritage value and use it as a multipurpose venue. The building's acoustic qualities make it a natural home for an intimate live music series.

Tuesday is a fine reason to linger in the Strait Area this week. Tuesday Island Tunes at St. John's Centre for the Arts kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with live music in a welcoming arts setting, followed later that evening by the Tuesday Island Tunes series at 9:30 p.m. — admission is by donation, making it one of the easiest decisions of the week. For those planning a longer stay, Dundee Resort & Golf Club in Dundee offers a championship golf course alongside a lakeside adventure centre with kayaking and paddle boats — a full day's worth of activity built right into the property. Alternatively, Battery Provincial Park Campground in Saint Peter's delivers 53 campsites, hiking trails, a saltwater beach, and sweeping views over St. Peter's Bay near the canal.

Saturday calls for family time. The free Kid's Day and BBQ at Loch Lomond Community Hall runs from 2 to 4 p.m. with games and prizes — no admission required. As the afternoon winds down, head to the Saturday Sessions at the Seal Cove Restaurant & Lounge, where live local music and seafood specials run into the evening. Those looking for a Saturday dinner spot in Port Hawkesbury will find Papa's Pub and Eatery a reliable choice, with craft pizzas, Canadian cuisine with a modern touch, and an extensive wine list.

Sunday morning, follow Highway 4 to Johnstown for the Johnstown Landing Artisan & Farmers Market, an outdoor community gathering across from the Parish Hall.
