Membertou Heritage Park

Mi'kmaw cultural centre in Membertou with exhibits, art, and traditional craft demonstrations.

Membertou Heritage Park is the cultural and interpretive heart of the Membertou First Nation in Sydney. Permanent and rotating exhibits trace Mi'kmaw history, treaty relationships, language, and contemporary life. The on-site shop carries authentic basketry, beadwork, and other Mi'kmaw-made art, and the café offers traditional foods such as luskinikn (four-cents bread).

Highlights

  • A permanent gallery covering Mi'kmaw worldview, the impact of colonisation, residential schools, treaty relationships, and the modern Membertou success story.
  • Rotating contemporary art exhibitions featuring Mi'kmaw artists.
  • The on-site shop with juried basketry, beadwork, prints, and Mi'kmaw-authored books.
  • A café where luskinikn is baked fresh and the menu rotates seasonal Mi'kmaw-inspired items.
