Meat Cove Campground

Cliffside oceanfront campground at the very tip of Cape Breton.

Perched on the cliffs above the Cabot Strait at the end of the road in northern Cape Breton — about 30 minutes north of the national park's northern boundary along a partly gravel road.

Sites & amenities

30+ unserviced campsites and a few wilderness cabins overlooking the ocean. Each site has a picnic table, fire pit and grill. Walk-in tent sites available. Flush toilets, fresh drinking water, free showers, free Wi-Fi, kayak rentals and a small chowder hut on site.

Best for

Adventurous tent campers, photographers and hikers chasing the wildest end of the island. Small RVs only — large rigs should not attempt the road.

Park & access

First-come, first-serve from $40 + tax. Opens June 1; call ahead late season. Last fuel in Bay St. Lawrence.

Combine it with

Meat Cove Mountain hike, the Lowland Cove backcountry trail and whale watching from Bay St. Lawrence.

Getting there

First-come, first-served. Partly gravel road; small rigs only.
