A tribute concert explores Rita MacNeil's feminist songs from 1975, written during her time in the Toronto Women's Caucus.

A tribute show celebrating the early feminist songwriting of Rita MacNeil, the beloved Cape Breton singer-songwriter born in Big Pond, Nova Scotia. In 1975, MacNeil released Born a Woman, considered one of the first feminist albums in Canada, having become involved in the women's movement through meetings of the Toronto Women's Caucus, which inspired her to write songs as a mode of self-expression. Over her career she released 24 albums, received three Juno Awards and eleven East Coast Music Awards, and was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame and named to the Order of Canada.
