L'Ardoise Acadian Festival Outside Events
The L'Ardoise Acadian Festival is one of Cape Breton's long-running summer celebrations of Acadian culture and heritage. Known in French as the Festival Acadien de L'Ardoise, the event is held in the community of L'Ardoise in Richmond County , and its history spans more than five decades — with past editions reaching the milestone of the 53rd annual festival. L'Ardoise is a small community in Richmond County on Cape Breton Island with a rich history of French and Acadian culture. The festival draws on that heritage to bring together residents and visitors from across the region for several days of outdoor programming in late July. The "Outside Events" component of the festival — the portion specifically listed here — encompasses the daytime and outdoor activities that form the public-facing heart of the celebration, open to families, locals, and visitors alike. Past editions have included a community parade with decorated floats and entries from local organizations, including themed parade entries from area businesses and a showing of classic cars and trucks.
