Acadian Meat Pie Supper – first sitting

The Acadian Meat Pie Supper is a community dining event held during the Celtic Colours International Festival, Cape Breton's annual October celebration of Celtic and Atlantic Canadian culture. Richmond County hosts the renowned Celtic Colours International Festival each October , and the meat pie supper is one of several ticketed community meals organized alongside the festival's concert programming. Connected by bridge to the rugged coast of Richmond County, D'Escousse is one of the main settlements on Isle Madame where Acadian traditions run deep. Isle Madame is an island off southeastern Cape Breton Island and is part of the Municipality of the County of Richmond. A group of Acadian families who fled to Isle Madame after the fall of Louisbourg in 1758 have descendants who still live there today , making the area one of Cape Breton's most enduring Acadian communities. The supper features homemade Acadian meat pie served with salad, tea or coffee, and dessert, with two sittings available to accommodate guests.
