SA’SE’WAMUKWA’SIT, CHANGES BY ALEX BALKAM
Visual and media artist Alex Balkam explores transformation and environmental change through painting, sculpture, and film.
Visual and media artist Alex Balkam presents works across painting, sculpture, and film that examine transformation and our relationship to the natural world. His practice draws on his background in tanning and filmmaking, with work previously shown at Canadian festivals and held in the Nova Scotia Art Bank. The exhibition explores the Mi'kmaw concept of sa'se'wamukwa'sit—to change appearance, to transform—in the context of environmental change.
