Open everyday 9-5 June 1 to Oct 15; bus tours welcome anytime; group rates available. The Whale Interpretive Centre is located on the Harbour Road in Pleasant Bay, 30 seconds from the Cabot Trail, whale watching tours, and the beach. It’s a fun and interactive museum with exhibits for all ages to enjoy. Learn about whales and porpoises found around the Maritime provinces, enjoy a local lobster fishing exhibit. meet Hook, a 3D life size replica of a local long finned Pilot whale. There’s a kids table with puzzles, toys, colouring pages, books and an Eye Spy game; a phone where you listen to hear the sounds that whales make; a short film featuring Dalhousie University researchers and Farley Mowat; locally made slideshow with trivia; a marine and wildlife themed gift shop with books, local photo art, local folk art, local jewelry, and locally made gifts and much more. The museum’s tour guides offer extensive knowledge of the area and are eager to answer any questions you have about whales, fishing, local trails and businesses. Often you can see whales from the property, and you can also enjoy an up close experience on one of the local whale watching tour businesses. This is a must stop on the Cabot Trail. Other features include amazing view point, public washrooms, internet access, picnic area and parking. MasterCard, Visa and Direct Debit are accepted.
