Eltuek Arts Centre
A multi-disciplinary arts hub in a restored historic Sydney building. Eltuek (the Mi'kmaw word loosely translates as 'a place where things happen') is the engine room of Sydney's contemporary art scene — studios, galleries, and a constant rotation of shows.
What to expect
- Working artist studios open for visits during posted hours
- Rotating exhibitions in the main gallery space
- Workshops, talks, and performance events year-round
- Friendly, low-key atmosphere — not a stuffy gallery scene
Don't miss
- A First Friday open-studio night if your visit lines up
- The current main-floor exhibit, which changes monthly
- The shop, with Cape Breton artist editions and prints
Good to know
- Free admission to most exhibits
- Wheelchair-accessible main floor
- Closed some weekdays in winter; check hours
- Easy on-street parking
Pair it with
- A walk to the Sydney waterfront and the Big Fiddle
- Dinner at Flavor on the Water
- A pint at the Old Triangle for live trad music
